Robert Heindel (1938-2005):
Robert Heindel was a gifted artist and his remarkable skilled as one of the greatest painters of the ballet was undisputed. His obsession with the ballet started in 1966 when by chance he was given tickets to see Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev perform 'Paradise Lost'. His international success was founded on his first major exhibition in London in 1985, titles 'Obsession of Dance', which was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret. For the next twenty years, as his reputation grew, he gained many admitrers including Diana, Princess of Wales who was a keen collector of His work. Other royal guests to his exhibitions over the years have included Princess Margaret, Princess Caroline of Monaco and Prince Takamado of Japan. His gift was that he succeeded in capturing the flowing movements and spirit of the principal, but also the extraordinary strength and discipline of the backstage rehearsals.
He died aged 66 after a long illness; the man and his extraordinary talent will be sorely missed
